Create, Communicate and Collaborate Wrap Up!!

Being the last post for this Assessment Task, this is both an exciting and ‘almost’ sad experience.

It’s exciting because I have addressed the three goals which I set for myself at the beginning and it’s sad because I feel that I have put so much work into this blog that I really feel as if I would like to continue learning in this interactive way and I also feel some sadness about losing an element of our group’s ability to collaborate and work together so well.

My three goals;

1.  I hope that I can be a tech savvy Librarian or Information Management Provider,

2.  I want to learn how to use and relate this technology to my everyday life, and

3.  I want to be a positive member of a collaborative team, in a supportive environment,

were all linked in a manner which meant that the success of each one relied on that of all goals.

Some of the real technological challenges for me have been exacerbated through my everyday use of my Mac computer, so that it has now started to become a reliable tool for my future as a capable professional in my chosen field of information management.

I have pushed myself further than I expected I would with aspects of being ‘brave’ by utilizing my base social media connections of Yammer and Twitter, Library Blogs.  I will now continue to extend myself even further out, because I have found that the more that I get myself out there, that even more professionals and organisations, both global and Australian come back and connect with me.  I have become a member of a global, collaborative, online Information Management community and my new goal is to become a valued member of this community.

I was also inspired by Merrilee from OCLC, and she persuaded me that I did have the technological skills to sign up as a user with Wikipedia, and then that I do have some knowledge to contribute to this community as well.  I am now a Wikipedia User and Contributor and I’m very proud of myself.  I encountered HTML hypertext when signing up and contributing and it did make me step back for a little bit, but then I realized that because of Doc Man One, I actually understood a fair bit of it, so I just did it. Awesome!
